Burning Man is a week-long community event held in the Nevada desert where creativity, self-expression, and collaboration are emphasized. Entertainment, food, music, and spectacles are provided by the attendees rather than an organizer. Huge art installations can be seen, some being interactive while others exist as a visual phenomenon.
At the cusp of the event, a large wooden statue of a man is burned.

Origins
Burning Man started in 1986 on the beach of San Francisco. Larry Harvey and Jerry James came together to build a large wooden statue of a man, lighting a fire to it. Dozens of people on the beach flocked to the burning figure, in awe of its brilliant light. There a community was temporarily formed, inspiring creativity and human connection. The next year in 1987 the wooden statue grew in size, requiring more people to help move it to the beach. The event was undertaken by the attendees, rather than by any overhead organizers or sponsors. Years later Burning Man continues to inspire passion projects, collaboration, and connection.
